Water hygiene: a key health factor
Make what’s good even better!
Nowadays waterworks supply first-rate drinking water, a life resource which by law (drinking water ordinance) must be of flawless quality. But the responsibility of the water supplier ends at the water connection to a particular building. The strict stipulations of the drinking water ordinance state that here the operator bears sole responsibility for the impeccable condition of the systems and for the quality of the drinking water. Depending on the domestic circumstances, the water may be contaminated by suspended sediment and foreign particles in the pipelines in the system of pipes within a building.
Problems stem mostly from outside, via the tap
Furthermore, the findings of recent years indicate that water quality can also be impaired because of reverse contamination (retrograde) from outside via the taps back into the pipeline system. Remedying these deficiencies is the primary objective of the hygiene system which has been developed by IONOX.
The following points can hamper the situation, especially in sensitive areas:
- Often complex system of pipes within buildings
- Older buildings with "disused" pipelines
- Materials used in the pipes
- Lots of different users
- Increased risk of germ contamination from the ambient air
